My picture of the 'Oga no Namahage' was published in a special edition of the 150th anniversary of the Akita Sakigake Shimpo, the oldest newspaper in the northeastern region of Japan. Namahage is a traditional folk event in Akita Prefecture, which was inscribed on UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage List in November 2018. Namahage is worshipped as a visiting deity who is the bringer of good harvests and good health to the people.

8月29日に、秋田魁新報創刊150年の特集号『秋田魁新報と、みんなが周年』が発行されました。『男鹿のナマハゲ』を紹介するページでは、私の作品を掲載していただきました。ナマハゲは2018年11月に他県の来訪神行事と共に、ユネスコの無形文化遺産に登録されました。特集号は24ページフルカラーで、秋田を象徴する文化や自然遺産を秋田ゆかりの8名の写真家たちの作品と共に、それぞれ一ページ全面で紹介されています。この特集号は約181000部が秋田県内で発行され、県内と東京都内の各所にも約5000部が設置されたようです。私の活動が魁新報社の紙面に初めて掲載されたのは20年ほど前になりますが、それ以来、連載などを通して何度もお世話になり、前に進む勇気を与えていただきました。創刊150年の節目に写真を通して協力ができ、とても光栄です。ありがとうございました。
