From July 24, 2025, military clashes continued for five days along the Cambodia-Thailand border. The Khmer people, who throughout history have endured the tragedies of war, were once again engulfed by the ravages of conflict and stripped of their daily lives. According to local reports and other sources, Thai airstrikes and exchanges of artillery fire between the two sides resulted in at least 40 deaths and the displacement of about 300,000 people, marking the worst bilateral situation in recent years.

I am honored that my photo story, which covered the border conflict between Thailand and Cambodia, has been selected as a finalist for the newly established international photojournalism award, the PHOTOJOURNALISM PRIZE(PJP). The judging panel comprises leading figures from the international photography community. Throughout history, the people of Cambodia have endured the tragedies of war time and again. Watching them being driven from their homes once again, losing their lives to the conflict and being forced to become refugees was utterly unbearable. 'We Cambodians do not want war.' It is a message that I wish to continue conveying.

◇The story describes the five-day border conflict that occurred at the end of July last year, which marked the first major outbreak of hostilities. It does not include details of the large-scale clashes that erupted again in December.
