I'm honored that one of my images received a Bronze award in the People/Family/Professional category at the 2024 Budapest International Foto Awards(BIFA). I started covering Cambodia in September 2003. Since then, I have visited many rural areas and felt the "lights and shadows" of Cambodia's turbulent contemporary history. 光栄なことに、今年度の『ブダペスト国際写真賞』(BIFA)のプロの部『People/Family』カテゴリーで、私の作品『Family Ties』がBronze awardに選出されました。作品は、私がかつて暮らしていたカンボジアの首都プノンペンから北西部に約2時間のコンポンチュナン州の農村を昨年撮影させていただいた家族の絆になります。撮影時は、カンボジア総選挙の6日前。最大野党の総選挙への参加が認められず、異を唱える人々は逮捕され、自由無き総選挙を迎えようとしていた時でした。そのような抑圧的な状況の中で、お母さんに抱きつきながら昼食の完成を待つ子どもの姿に、普遍的な愛を感じました。2003年から開始した同国での取材で、様々な農村を訪問し取材を重ねてきました。激動の現代史の光と陰を、農村に生きる人の姿を通して感じ学ばせていただきました。撮影はこれからもずっと継続します。
